The “targeted and relentless” campaign caused Walker “psychological trauma”, says the suit, which was shared in advance with the Guardian. “He modified his entire way of life because of this,” Cair-MI Amy Doukoure told the Guardian. “He was always in a heightened state of anxiety, and always hyper-vigilant and alert in a way that no college student should be when just going to class or work.”
Wald’s comments highlight a significant “timely” issue: the perception of adaptive sports as a “service” rather than a competitive pursuit. He notes that Michigan is special because it achieves at the highest level in both spheres. But he selfishly wants this win to draw in more recruits who see Michigan as an athletic destination, not just an academic one.
Instead of sending police officers, the program would send social workers to respond to emergency calls relating to non-violent mental health crises.

The University of Michigan has launched a new Student Accessibility and Accommodation Services website to better support students with disabilities, combining resources from Services for Students with Disabilities, Academic Support and Access Partnerships, Testing Accommodation Centers and Adaptive Sports and Fitness on one site.

For her performance as Ado Annie Carnes in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma!, Stroker became the first wheelchair user to win a Tony Award in 2019.
