“I wanted to create a space where we can talk about it and have some psycho-education about ADHD,” Harris said. “Because when you Google it, it’s all about little boys and it’s like ‘cool, I’m an adult and a girl, so how can I find relevant information for me?’ As well as college students in general.”
Having been undiagnosed until the age of 19, I spent most of my childhood and adolescence frustrated with my laziness and lack of discipline— what I now know as a deficit in executive functioning, not a flaw ingrained into my personality.
At Mount Holyoke College we have Disability Services, but, as they themselves say on the College’s website, a student must submit “appropriate documentation of [their] disability from a licensed provider/clinician”, meaning that students who are unaware of their own disabilities, or are unable to, or do not want to get a diagnosis — which includes me — cannot receive help from them.

June 9, 2019. Ali Stroker wins Best Featured Actress in a Musical at the 73rd Annual Tony Awards. An actor, singer, and wheelchair user, Ali Stroker has been a trailblazer for disability representation on the stage. She was the first wheelchair user to graduate from the Tisch School of the Arts Drama Department at New York University. In 2015, she was the first wheelchair user to appear on Broadway, starring as Anna in the musical, Spring Awakening. For her performance as Ado Annie Carnes in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma!, Stroker became the first wheelchair user to win a Tony Award in 2019.
