The anthology is organized into four sections examining the experiences of disabled writers and writer-educators while exploring ways creative writing programs, classrooms and workshops can become more inclusive. Contributors represent a wide range of disabilities and health conditions, including ADHD, autism, blindness, dyslexia, cerebral palsy, bipolar disorder, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis.
The lawsuit alleges that the defendants violated the Family and Medical Leave Act by retaliating against Weaver, who requested leave in June 2024 due to health conditions that included cerebral palsy, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
The clinic’s work to develop comprehensive long COVID awareness aims to address the inequities and adversities discussed in the editorial, particularly for patients with psychological symptoms and those from underrepresented minority groups, both of which the editorial states are often dismissed.
Greenberg, alongside the co-author of the article, Siobhán Cully, Ph.D., wanted to publish the article to share their research in the hopes that it clarifies for academics, especially in leadership roles, the legacies of harm against faculty, staff, and students with disabilities.
“Beyond the linguistic benefits, studying ASL and Deaf culture instills a strong foundation in accessibility, equity, and human centered thinking,” Andersen said. “Whether our students go on to become doctors, lawyers, policymakers, or media creators, they will step into their future careers equipped to recognize systemic barriers and champion inclusive practices.”
The “targeted and relentless” campaign caused Walker “psychological trauma”, says the suit, which was shared in advance with the Guardian. “He modified his entire way of life because of this,” Cair-MI Amy Doukoure told the Guardian. “He was always in a heightened state of anxiety, and always hyper-vigilant and alert in a way that no college student should be when just going to class or work.”

An actor, singer, and wheelchair user, Ali Stroker has been a trailblazer for disability representation on the stage. She was the first wheelchair user to graduate from the Tisch School of the Arts Drama Department at New York University. In 2015, she was the first wheelchair user to appear on Broadway, starring as Anna in the musical, Spring Awakening. For her performance as Ado Annie Carnes in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma!, Stroker became the first wheelchair user to win a Tony Award in 2019.
