“[Type 1 diabetes is] a really rare condition, so sometimes if you don’t know other people with it, you can feel kind of singled out,” Turner said. “Like [you] have this whole medical condition that [you] have to deal with every day, and [you] don’t know anyone else who has to go through the same thing.”
